From the Music Desk

From the music critic Alex Ross I found this website about Galina Ustvolskaya (1919-2006). She was a student and friend of the famous Russian composer Dimitri Shostakovich. Although she revered the composer toward the beginning of her study, she moved in a separate direction after becoming quite intimate with him. He is known to have quoted her works and used her simplistic stlyle. Take a look and listen to this influential female composer.
