Toon Time

Now through December 13th, check out Osamu Tezuka: God of Manga, Father of Anime at the Freer/Sackler Gallery. With free lectures and films in the Meyer Auditorium, one can learn the legacy of an incredibly influential artist of the 20th century. See their website for a complete schedule.

Curious what the heck Manga is? Learn about it: "1000 Years of Manga" by Brigitte Koyama-Richard (ART 741.5952 K88). Feeling inspired to try your hand at the Graphic Novel form? Go for it, with "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Drawing Manga Shoujo Illustrated" (ART 741.5 F692). Also available here at MLK are many of Tezuka's Graphic Novels and Anime Film in the Popular Library.

And as luck would have it, I just ran across "The Mammoth Book of New Manga." (Art 741.59 M265). A worthy addition for this post.
