Budgets Being What They Are...
...I changed the "new books" display to something of a "seminal works" display in room 209. Here you will find vitally important writing of the recent past in the fields of visual art and music.
So far we have:
Pictures of Nothing, Kirk Varnedoe's Melon Lectures
Camera Lucida, Roland Barthes
What is a Masterpiece, Kenneth Clark
Ways of Seeing, John Berger
The Rest is Noise, Alex Ross
The Ambient Century: From Mahler to Moby, Mark Pendergast
Dance of Days: Two Decades of Punk Rock in the Nation's Capitol, Mark Anderson & Mark Jenkins
There are others, but you will just have to be surprised.
